Fire

She never knew how much fire
she had inside
She was never told
to dim the flame
She was always burning

Burning everything she touched
melting hearts and igniting wild fires

She was never told to be careful
“not to play with fire”
for she was an expert
that meddled with danger

She was never told to silence the sparks
she let them echo in places where
they’d reach those who need some
spark in their lives

She kept going
moving forward, fire never leans back
She held on catalysts
that fed her flames
She grew more and more
for she was never told to settle for less

She was a fire sign too
what a coincidence
she sometimes found solace in reading
her compatible partner
but never relied on them

She was never told to cover
those orange, red and blue flames
she was never told to hurt those who hurt her
she just burns, and if she did
they probably stood in the face of fire

She was never told to stop consuming
it was the essence of her brightness
even when others bombarded her
with balloons of water
trying to kill her flame
she always reignited

She was never told stop embracing
warming others with her heat
letting them feel the love and passion
in every caress
even though sometimes
she burned too much
she left marks

She never knew that her fire rekindled the flames
in other peoples hearts,
it warmed them to their very cores
breaking them free of their shells *

She was never told to let go
because if she did, she wouldn’t grow as tall
she kept everything within, even those
things that ate her up from the inside,
but hey, she kept on growing

She was never told to calm down
for her energy twirled sporadically
letting everyone join in the fun
it was contagious

She was never told
to
stop
burning
even when her
flames
burned
fiercely
